Song Showdown

This week, Katy Perry’s new single “Rise” released to the masses. It will be used as the anthem for the Rio Olympics this August. The song’s tempo is a slow burn with an empowering message whose singer symbolizes a musical phoenix, “rising” from the ashes.

While this is a good choice for Rio, there’s another song called “Rise“, not released as a single that might have been an even better choice. It’s from Selena Gomez’ album Revival. It’s up-beat while still retaining the message that you can essentially “rise” and prove yourself to the world.

Do you think it would have made a better anthem? Tell me in the comments section.
